Vision and Mission Statement

  • “And I told them how the hand of my God had been favourable to me and also about the king’s words which he had spoken to me. Then they said, “Let us arise and build.” So they put their hands to the good work.” (Nehemiah 2: 18)
  • Let Us Arise and Build” (Nehemiah 2: 18) will be the Vision of ELCM from 2022 – 2032.

Our Shared Values

  • EMBRACE – “So show your love for the stranger, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt.” (Deuteronomy 10: 19).
  • Our calling in ELCM is to EMBRACE.
  • The first value evident in ELCM is embrace. ELCM is a church that is well-known for embracing others. During desperate moments or difficult times, there are testimonies of congregation members or pastors who willingly embrace a newcomer or a stranger. In embracing others, God reminds us of who we are, sinners needing His saving grace
  • ENCOURAGE – ‘Sir,’ the man replied, ‘leave it alone for one more year, and I’ll dig around it and fertilize it. If it bears fruit next year, fine! If not, then cut it down.’   (Luke 13: 8-9).
  • ELCM is a church that ENCOURAGES.
  • The above parable reminds us of how Christ allows us to grow in Him, guided by the Holy Spirit. We encourage others so that they will live. We appeal to God for the well-being of others so that they might grow. There are many reasons why people are discouraged by others. In ELCM, we encourage our members, fellow pastors and church workers.
  • EMPOWER – “neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8: 39)
  • ELCM is a church that EMPOWERS.
  • We are called to empower our members and pastors because the love of Christ enables us to do so. The Love of Christ is steadfast, and it does not change according to time and tide. When we empower our members and pastors, we grow together. It is not true that one overtakes the other.
